From Engineering to Enlightenment: The Professional Evolution to Happiness Coaching

My journey to becoming a Happiness Life Coach is rooted not just in personal experience, but in a decades-long professional and intellectual evolution. While my early career was defined by the demanding and results-oriented field of Information Technology (IT), the underlying pursuit of effective decision-making and optimal performance ultimately guided me toward the science of well-being.

The Foundation of an IT Career

I began my professional life immediately after completing my Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics. At the age of 22, I entered the workforce, initially navigating a few challenging transitions, including a brief, unsuccessful stint in an automobile factory and a period as a freelance tutor in Mathematics and Science.

My breakthrough came with a successful aptitude test and interview, marking my entry into the structured world of IT. Although my initial role was routine, providing a stable footing in the corporate landscape, this early period was marked by personal distractions and a search for purpose. This search—from attempting to learn vocal singing to a short-lived passion for motorbiking—culminated in a pivotal moment: being terminated from my first job.

This setback was profoundly unsettling, yet it served as a powerful catalyst. The unhappiness I felt was a direct motivation to prove my capability. I immediately secured a new role, committing to a renewed focus on high performance. This dedication led to rapid professional growth, including a significant opportunity to work with an IT company in Chicago, IL, where I spent six formative years contributing to the U.S. technology sector before returning to India.

The Transition to Agile and Life Coaching

Upon my return to India, I secured a key position within a major organization, where I served in various capacities. After several years as an IT Project Manager, my career trajectory shifted towards Agile Coaching after achieving my certification as a Scrum Master.

This transition marked a critical pivot. Agile methodologies—focused on continuous improvement, team dynamics, and iterative success—introduced me to the principles of human performance and behavioral change. It was a natural step from coaching teams for better project outcomes to coaching individuals for better life outcomes, leading me into the realm of Life Coaching.

The Science of Happy: Defining the Niche

My decision to specialize in Happiness Coaching is a direct result of observing a profound correlation between emotional state and tangible results throughout my life and career. I have experienced both significant successes and failures—moments of happiness and periods of deep unhappiness.

Through this observation, I discovered a noteworthy pattern, which I term the “Science of Happy”:

  • When operating from a state of happiness, my decisions were consistently well-calibrated, positively influencing my outlook, approach, and overall outcomes.
  • Conversely, when governed by unhappiness, the decisions I made often had a debilitating, negative effect on my results.

This realization made it clear that while ambition and skill are vital, the foundational state of mind—happiness as a conscious choice—is the ultimate driver of sustained success and fulfillment.

My mission today is to move beyond simply being happy myself. It is to equip others with the tools and understanding necessary to make happiness their default operating system. I guide clients to recognize why this state of mind is crucial and, more importantly, how to consciously choose it to unlock their maximum potential in both their personal and professional lives.
